The Smackdown in DC yesterday. UPDATED.

UPDATE..

Here’s a nice piece of Video showing A Clinton supporter’s attitude
at the RBC meeting yesterday.. TO be sure, Many of Her supporters play
nice with everyone else, but people like this lady are surely
making a BAD name for all of them.

Yesterday in Washington DC, the Rules and Bylaws Commitee met and made a decision
on the seating of the FL and MI delegates.

There was lots of sound and fury along the way. Although not as much as some
expected since the Clinton’s campaigns touted 10,000 protestors turned out to
be more like 3000.

Not just a few of them were tossed out of the building for interupting the
meeting with vocal protests.

Yesterday Harold Ickes and Hillary Clinton both took a beating in their
personal political capital.

Because after all their efforts, at the end of the day only 8 of 13 known
Clinton supporters voted with her position.

For anyone that cares to expand upon this story CarmenT at DailyKos has
an excellent analysis of the decision yesterday and where it leaves things now.
Read it here - http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/6/1/72643/08080/210/526590

Of course CLinton AND Ickes KNEW they would lose this fight yesterday, but they
played it out in hopes of gaining or keeping some political points to use later on
when she folds her campaign (which she will shortly).

The threat of taking this issue up in Denver with the Credentials Committee is a
non-starter, because pretty much the same members would be voting on it as
you saw vote yesterday, so in effect it would be a repeat smackdown of Ickes and
Hillary again.

Of course she “COULD” take it to a floor fight at the convention, which would be political suicide for any continued career she hopes to have after 2008.

Especially after alienating so many of her (now former) supporters, and her fellow politicians in the Democratic party.

Unless The Clintons want to switch sides and become Republicans, they had better steer
back towards supporting their fellow Democrats and stop tilting at windmills.
