The majority of American people are progressive to liberal. About 15-20% of the American people are right wing conservative. Another 10% of the American people are moderate conservative, Republican Lite, DINO’s or Dixiecrats.
The true American majority is poised to take over all branches of government in 2008 and barring self destruction, should be in power for decades to come.
The Washington cocktail Party elitists know this. The corporate conservative media knows this. Their own pollsters and insiders tell them this. They are scared shitless because despite all their pro-Republican propaganda pieces, all their ignoring of the news, and all their lies about Democrats, the majority of American people have finally caught on to their anti middle class agenda AND suffered the consequences.
So the elitists are trying to play one last card, this -
Bipartisan Group Eyes Independent Bid
Michael Bloomberg was George W Bush’s number one financier in 2004. His record on education, health care, and the economy is disastrously right wing. Chuck Hagel has about a 98% conservative voting record. (Granted he’s strong on foreign policy.) Christie Todd Whitman was an ultra right wing governor except on abortion and gay rights. (Lip service) John Danforth gave us Clarence Thomas.
As for the “Democrats?” You would think that this unity ticket would be balanced off by the likes of Dennis Kucinich. Of course you would be wrong.
Instead, you have Sam Nunn, the ultra conservative who voted with Ronald Reagan time after time after time. Then there’s Chuck Robb, another right wing Democrat. And, David Boren, even more right wing than Robb or Nunn. There are no liberals, no progressives, and no moderates in this unity party.
What we have here in this so called unity party is actually a very partisan group of conservatives who realize that the Republican Party is going over the cliff. Thus they are creating this new partisan group which they want to portray as a false center hoping that they can siphon enough votes away from Democrats, Independents, and moderate Republicans under the guise of unity and nonpartisanship. I will concede that they don’t belong in the same sentence as wingnut lunatics like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, James Dobson, Michelle Malkin, Bill O’Reilly, and Ann Coulter, but the policy positions of these so called Unity members is simply a watered down version of the same poison that Bush, Gingrich, and Delay have given the American people the last 13 years.
If we want unity in this country, the 70-75% of us who are on the left, progressive, moderate, or liberal can unite together to work to solve the daunting problems and challenges that face our nation. But if you want partisanship and disunity, Michael Bloomberg may be providing you with another alternative.

This is a smokescreen… anyone running a third party platform or candidates is just trying to muddy the waters and dilute the middle class vote… AKA - to let the GOP sneak one by us again… DON’T FALL FOR IT !
