Mike Huckabee steadily gaining ground in Iowa is poised to become the frontrunner in the republican field. Huckabee won, if there is such a thing, the “You Boob” Presidential debate last night.

Many progressives, myself included, have been preoccupied with the Democratic candidates and have just washed over the republican opposition. Well, no more, for me anyway.

Huckabee should scare the heck out of any freedom loving progressive.

Mike Huckabee is not only a former Southern Baptist minister he is knee deep into the Christian Right block of voters. During the debate Wednesday night he brought the “fair tax” talk to the table endorsing it as the cure for the disease known as the IRS. Why should this bother anyone? Isn’t the fair tax model much better than our current system? Yes, if you want to break the federal government and continue to promote the values based system of social reform started by GW.

I will be following Huckabee from now on. His performance in the Iowa caucus will show if he is going to be the new savior for the “Christian right", values-based voting block of the repubs.

All progressive, free thinking voters should be watching Mike Huckabee.
