Pro Lifers Challenge Free Speech

excerpt from Nov 22, LJS

An activist pro life group from Omaha is challenging state law concerning picketing and distrubing the peace. The group has actively protested and picketed the home of employees that work at a Bellevue abortion clinic.

[More:]

State law prohibits this form of picketing and the group has been ticketed under two statutes of state law. The group claims deeply held political and religious ideology as their reason for picketing. They also claim their rights of free speech have been violated when law enforcement is called and they are cited.

Picketing at someones residence because of deeply held political and religous beliefs?
Give me a break!! Hopefully this will be handled at the district court in Lincoln and this group will go packing. I am all about free speech as long as it doesn’t infringe on the rights of others. In this case, I would say the rights of the employees and of their neighbors are being violated by this groups actions.

I wonder if these people would feel the same if a group of abortion rights activists protested outside their homes promoting abortion rights based on deeply held political and religous beliefs.
